This Privacy Policy explains how Preston Jay Susanto (“we”, “Regrade”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Regrade mobile application and the Regrade web application (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Contact for privacy questions, data access requests, or data deletion: see the in-app About screen for the current support email. A copy of this Policy is bundled with the application.
Regrade is operated by Preston Jay Susanto, an individual developer based in the United States. We are the data controller for the personal information described below.
When you sign in with Google we receive the basic profile fields listed in 2.1. We do not receive your Google password.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run third-party advertising in the app.
To produce the analysis and the draft appeal letter, your uploads, the extracted text, and any notes you add are sent over an encrypted connection to a Regrade-operated backend, which then calls one or both of the following third-party AI providers depending on the AI Engine you select in the app (Profile → AI Engine):
When you first start an analysis, the app asks you to choose an engine and records that choice as your explicit consent to send the upload to the selected providers. You can change the engine at any time in Profile → AI Engine. We instruct both providers not to use your content to train their general models. We do not use your uploads to train any model of our own. AI output can be wrong; it is not legal advice and not a guarantee of any appeal outcome.
We share information only with: (a) Google LLC for Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Hosting, and the Gemini API; (b) Anthropic PBC for the Claude API when you have selected “Hybrid” or “Claude only” as your engine; (c) our Node.js API hosting provider; (d) our professional advisors; (e) authorities when required by law; (f) a successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition.
Our processors operate primarily in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to the U.S. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful mechanisms where required.
Account and profile data: until you delete your account. Uploaded coursework, analyses, and drafts: until you delete the case or your account. Security logs: typically up to 90 days. Support emails: up to 24 months. Backups roll off within 30 days of live deletion.
We use TLS in transit, Firebase Authentication, Firestore security rules, server-side input validation, content-safety scans, IP and user rate limiting, and App Check (where enabled). No security program is perfect.
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, object to, or restrict our processing of your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, use the in-app Delete Account control or email the support address shown in the app.
Regrade is intended for users at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA/UK where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect personal information from younger children.
In the last 12 months we collected the categories described above for the purposes described above. We disclose information to the service providers listed in §5 for business purposes only. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA. California residents have the rights listed in §9 and exercising them will not result in worse service.
We will post material changes at this URL, update the “Effective date” above, and notify users in-app or by email where reasonable. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the change.
Support and privacy email is shown inside the app on the Regrade About screen. Postal address available on written request.
